BUSCALAN TATTOO VILLAGE
At 102 years old Whang-od is often described as the "last" and oldest Mambabatok "Traditional Kalinga Tattooist". Her village of Buscalan has become a mecca for tattoo aficionados the world over. Getting to Buscalan Village takes some doing but the rewards are great. To get there requires a three-hour bus ride from Bontoc the province's main city through the breathtaking Kalinga Valley, after which one has a 45-minute hike up the mountainside paths to the village, which is not directly serviced by a road.
